A Message From Our President

A Message from Our President

You are probably asking, where has the time gone?  This school term is more than half over.  Each of us has been working extremely harder and putting in longer hours with no raise or compensation for the extra period.  However, for most of us, our jobs are not in jeopardy.  According to Dr. McKenzie, no schools will be shut down in Polk County, even though many programs could be deleted.

Florida's idea of winter will pass and we will prepare for spring as it ushers in a new spirit and attitude.  However, let us spring ahead eagerly as we prepare for the challenge of the FCAT in March.  Though all of us do not teach the students who take the FCAT, we do support each other in the challenge.

Once again, we would like to encourage you to invite a prospective member to one of our meetings and encourage a member who is inactive to become active.  Roxanne Youngs has done a great job planning programs for us this school term.

I look forward to seeing each of you at our next meeting.  Please come out and spend time with colleagues that you don't see everyday.  It is good to renew old friendships in a relaxed environment, as we share anecdotes about our experiences.  Remember!  Association does bring on assimilation.  So let's associate with positivity.

Fraternally,

Gloria D. Washington
